Mouth sewed Shut Syndrome

In my humble opinion this syndrome affects the American public today. On July 17th, 2007 President Bush signed and Executive Order which according to internet buzz threatens our freedoms of speech. I have examined the order a little and the only threats I see is to someone who acts violently against the war in a protest. Of course, any acts of violence are already illegal, so why would President Bush sign an order to condemn that which has already been condemned. So let's tear the piece apart,

"(i) to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of:"

The high lighting is my own, in short this seems to say that if you say something, read something, do something that would look suspicious of a violent or potentially violent act you can be brought up on charges. This is thought crime and violates the first amendment.

"threatening the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq; or
undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people; "

Since when do we violate our citizens rights for another country? Oh yes, this also means we can not investigate Haliburton or any other economic scandals related to Iraq because it might cause the stopping of the reconstruction.

In short I believe this piece of legislature to be Un-Constitutional and a violation of the citizens rights. People are saying you can't protest the war, well...I don't see that exactly, but I do see some crafty work to stop anyone from succeeding in stopping the war, which is a violation of our right to petition the government for redress over grievances. Either way it should be thrown in the trash and forgot about by history, lest we end up believing this tripe is legal.
